Send emails at each contact's best time with Smart Send

How Smart Send uses AI to deliver your campaign at the optimal time for each individual contact, maximizing opens and clicks.

Written by Ed Mallory

Smart Send is an AI-powered scheduling mode that delivers your email to each contact at the time they're most likely to open it. Instead of blasting everyone at 9am, Smart Send analyzes each contact's historical engagement patterns and delivers at their individual optimal time.

How Smart Send works

  1. SendX analyzes each contact's past open and click behavior

  2. It identifies the time window when each contact is most engaged

  3. Your email is queued and delivered to each contact at their predicted best time

  4. Contacts without enough engagement history receive the email at your specified fallback time

Set up Smart Send

  1. Create or edit a campaign and reach the Schedule step

  2. Select Smart Send from the scheduling options

  3. Choose a preferred date - the day you want the campaign to start sending

  4. Set a preferred time - the fallback time for contacts without enough data

  5. Select your timezone

  6. Review the campaign and publish

When to use Smart Send

  • Newsletter campaigns - Maximize opens by reaching people when they check their inbox

  • Product announcements - Ensure important updates are seen, not buried

  • Engagement campaigns - Re-engage contacts by appearing at their peak attention time

When NOT to use Smart Send

  • Time-sensitive announcements - If everyone needs the information at the same time (e.g., a flash sale starting at noon)

  • New lists - Smart Send needs engagement history to work well. For new lists, use "Send Later" instead

FAQ

How much data does Smart Send need?
Smart Send works best when contacts have at least a few weeks of engagement history. For newer contacts, it uses the fallback time you specify.

Does Smart Send spread delivery over multiple days?
Smart Send delivers within a 24-hour window around your selected date. It won't delay emails by days.
