By the end of this guide, you’ll know how to create a drip email sequence in SendX and utilize its various advanced options to boost engagement, reduce churn, and increase conversions.

Before You Begin

Make sure you:

  • Have logged in to your SendX

  • Have an understanding of your target audience or email segments

  • Know the purpose of your drip campaign (e.g., onboarding, upsell, engagement)

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Go to Campaigns

  • Log in to your SendX account.

  • From the left menu, click on Campaigns, then select Drip.

Step 2: Create a Drip

  • Click Create Drip.

  • On the next screen, name your drip campaign, and enter your sender name and email address.

Step 3: Compose Your Emails

  • For each drip step, you can:

    • Edit the subject line

    • Add email content

    • Choose to set the status as Active (ready to send) or Draft (not yet sent)

Step 4: Schedule Email Intervals

Choose when each email should be sent after the previous one.

  • Example: Email #1 is sent immediately,

  • Email #2 after 2 days,

  • Email #3 after 5 days.

Step 5: Set Drip Status

  • Make sure the entire drip campaign is set to Active to start sending.

  • You can set individual steps to Draft if you want to skip or delay them.

Tips & Best Practices

  • Keep your tone consistent: Maintain a clear and friendly tone across all drip steps.

  • Use personalization: Include merge tags (like {{fallback .FirstName "there"}} ) to increase open rates.

  • Test your sequence: Always preview and send test emails before activating.

Advanced Options

  • Skip Weekends: Avoid sending drip emails on weekends by enabling this feature. Emails scheduled on weekends will be sent on Monday instead.

  • Track Replies: Enable reply tracking to monitor engagement. You can set automation rules based on replies to trigger actions like tagging or starting/stopping other campaigns.

  • Status Control: Keep a step in Draft if you’re not ready to send it. Only Active steps will be delivered.

Triggering a Drip Sequence

  • Automation Rules: Drip sequences can be triggered by user actions using SendX automation. For example, you can start a drip when a user signs up.

  • Using the API: Developers can also use the SendX API to programmatically trigger drip sequences for custom workflows.

Exclude a Segment of Contacts from a Drip Step

You can exclude specific segments from any step in the sequence by applying filters while setting up each email. This is helpful when:

  • You want to skip existing customers

  • You only want to target new subscribers

  • You need to exclude unengaged users
