In SendX, tags help organize and segment your contacts for targeted campaigns. However, if a tag is no longer relevant, you may want to delete it β€” along with all the contacts associated with it. This guide will walk you through how to safely and permanently delete a tag and all its contacts in just a few steps.

Before You Begin

Make sure:

  • You no longer need the tag or the associated contacts.

  • You have backed up your contact list if needed, as this action is irreversible.

  • You understand the difference between deleting just the tag and deleting both the tag and its contacts.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Go to the Audience Section

  • From your SendX Dashboard, click on Audience in the left-hand menu.

Step 2: Open the Tags Section

  • Click on the Tags tab to view all your existing tags.

Step 3: Select the Tag You Want to Delete

  • Locate the tag you want to remove.

  • Click on the tag and select "Delete selected tags"

  • A dialog box will appear with deletion options.

Step 4: Choose the Correct Deletion Option

  • In the dialog box, you will see the option:

  • Select Delete the Tag Along With All Contacts to ensure both the tag and its associated contacts are removed from your account.

Step 5: Confirm the Action

  • Click the red delete button to complete the deletion.

Tips & Best Practices

  • Double-check before confirming: Once deleted, the contacts cannot be recovered.

  • Backup important data: Export contacts linked to the tag if needed for future use.

  • Be cautious with bulk deletions: Ensure the tag is not shared across different campaigns or automations.

Troubleshooting

  • Accidentally deleted contacts?

    • Unfortunately, deletion is permanent. Contact SendX support for guidance if needed.

  • Tag still appears after deletion?

    • Refresh your dashboard or clear browser cache; the change may take a moment to reflect.

  • Floating contacts remain?

    • This happens when only the tag is deleted but not the associated contacts. Always select the option to delete both.
