What This Feature Does

Spread Sending distributes your email campaign evenly over a period of time, instead of sending all emails at once. For example, if you're sending to 10,000 contacts over 2 hours, SendX will send 5,000 emails per hour in scheduled batches.

When and Why You'd Use This

Use Spread Sending when you're sending to large lists and want to:

  • Maintain sender reputation by avoiding sudden spikes in send volume that can trigger spam filters

  • Prevent deliverability issues with major inbox providers (Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo) who may throttle or block bulk sends

This is especially useful for newsletters, product announcements, and promotional campaigns sent to large audiences.

When NOT to use Spread Sending:

  • Time-sensitive announcements (breaking news, urgent alerts)

  • Flash sales with limited inventory

  • Webinar reminders close to start time

  • Small campaigns under 1,000 contacts (spreading isn't necessary)

Step 1: Enable the Spread Sending Add-on

Before you can use Spread Sending in your campaigns, you need to enable it once in your account.

  1. Go to Add-ons in your SendX dashboard

  2. Find Spread Sending in the list of available add-ons

  3. Click Enable

That's it. The add-on is now active for your account and available on all plans.

Step 2: Use Spread Sending in Your Campaign

Once enabled, you'll see the Spread Sending option when scheduling any campaign.

  1. Create your email campaign as usual

  2. Navigate to the Schedule page (the final step before sending)

  3. Select Spread Sending

  4. Choose your start time (when the spread should begin)

  5. Select the duration over which emails should be spread (between 1 and 72 hours)

  6. Click Send

SendX will now send your emails in evenly distributed batches throughout your selected timeframe.

Best Practices: Choosing the Right Spread Duration

The ideal spread duration depends on your list size and campaign type. Here are recommended guidelines:

List Size

Recommended Spread Duration

1,000 - 5,000 contacts

1-2 hours

5,000 - 25,000 contacts

2-4 hours

25,000 - 100,000 contacts

4-12 hours

100,000+ contacts

12-24 hours (or longer)

Important Notes and Limitations

About Batched Sending

SendX sends emails in batches at regular intervals throughout your spread duration. You won't see emails trickling out one by one, they go out in controlled groups every few minutes.

Analytics and Reporting

Your campaign analytics work exactly the same as regular campaigns. Each contact's "sent time" reflects when their specific batch went out, not just the start time of the spread. This means open rates and click data will accumulate gradually as batches are delivered.

Difference from Regular Scheduling

Spread Sending is NOT the same as simply scheduling a campaign for later:

  • Regular scheduling = sends all emails at once at a future time

  • Spread Sending = distributes sends evenly across a time window

You can combine both. For example, schedule a spread to start at 9am tomorrow and run for 6 hours.

Common Questions

Q: Can I use Spread Sending with automated campaigns or sequences?

A: Spread Sending is currently designed for one-time broadcast campaigns. Automated emails send based on triggers and don't require spreading.

Q: What if I need to send urgently after I've already scheduled a spread?

A: Delete the scheduled campaign and create a new one without Spread Sending enabled.

Q: Does spreading affect deliverability rates?

A: When done correctly, Spread Sending improves deliverability by preventing sudden volume spikes that ISPs flag as suspicious. It's a best practice for large sends.

Q: Can I see which contacts have been sent to so far during a spread?

A: Yes, check your campaign analytics. The "Sent" count updates in real-time as each batch goes out.

Q: What happens if I run out of email credits mid-spread?

A: The spread will pause. Once you add more credits, remaining batches will resume automatically.
