What is this feature?
The Bot Open and Click Add-on allows SendX to identify and filter out non-human activity from your email reports.
By default, your email metrics include every open and click, even those generated by automated software. This add-on separates genuine human engagement from automated "bot" activity, giving you a more accurate picture of your campaign performance.
Why should I use this?
Email service providers (like Gmail or Outlook) and corporate security filters often scan incoming emails to check for viruses or spam. Additionally, privacy features like Apple's Mail Privacy Protection (MPP) pre-load images to hide user activity.
All of these actions can register as "Opens" or "Clicks" in SendX, inflating your numbers.
Using this add-on helps you:
See real engagement: Know exactly how many humans are reading your content.
Clean up your metrics: Remove skewed data caused by security firewalls and privacy filters.
Improve Automations: Prevent bots from accidentally triggering automation flows (e.g., preventing a bot from triggering a "Clicked Link" follow-up email).
Step 1: Enable Bot Filtering (Global Setting)
You must enable this feature in your account settings before sending a campaign to start monitoring for bots. It is free to use.
Log in to your SendX account.
Navigate to Settings in the top menu.
Select the Add-ons tab.
Locate the option labeled Remove bot clicks and opens.
Toggle the switch to ON.
Important: This feature is not retroactive. It will only begin tracking bot data for campaigns sent after you have enabled this global setting.
Step 2: View Bot-Filtered Reports
Once you have sent a campaign with the add-on enabled, you must toggle the view inside your report to see the clean data.
Go to the Campaigns dashboard.
Click View Report next to the campaign you want to analyze.
Navigate to the Performance tab.
Locate the Exclude Bot toggle on this page and switch it ON.
The report will update to show:
Opened emails (excluding bots): Opens generated only by genuine users.
Clicks (excluding bots): Clicks that filter out tracking software.
SendX will also display the percentage values for these metrics, allowing you to easily compare total activity vs. human activity.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Does this add-on cost extra?
No. The Bot Open and Click add-on is free to enable for your account.
Why did my Open Rate drop after enabling this?
A drop in metrics is actually a good sign—it means your data is now more accurate. Previously, your open rates may have been artificially high due to bots and privacy filters (like Apple MPP) automatically "opening" emails. The lower number reflects your true human engagement.
Does this affect my Automation triggers?
Yes. When this feature is enabled, SendX filters out bot activity for triggers as well. This prevents scenarios where a security bot checks a link and accidentally triggers a "Link Clicked" automation flow for that contact.
Can I see bot data for campaigns I sent last month?
No. The filtering logic only applies to emails sent while the add-on is toggled ON. We cannot filter bot traffic from historical data retrospectively.
