How to Delete Contacts Using Bulk Action

Bulk Action in SendX lets you delete a group of contacts all at once, based on the list, tag, or segment they belong to. This is useful when you want to clean up your contact base quickly without having to remove contacts one by one.

When Would You Need This?

There are a few common situations where this comes in handy:

  • You want to remove a group of contacts from your account to stay within your plan's contact limit

  • You have a list, tag, or segment that is tied to a campaign or form and cannot be deleted, but you want to remove the contacts inside it

  • You want to clean up inactive or irrelevant contacts across multiple lists, tags, or segments in one go

Note: In SendX, lists, tags, segments, forms, and landing pages that have been used by campaigns are kept for reporting and historical accuracy. You cannot always delete these assets directly. However, you can delete the contacts inside them using Bulk Action.

How to Delete Contacts Using Bulk Action

  1. Go to Automation in the left navigation menu

  2. Click on Bulk Action

  3. Click New Bulk Action

  4. Enter a name for this bulk action in the Name field

  5. Under Select Contacts, choose one or more sources:

    • List to target all contacts subscribed to a specific list

    • Tag to target all contacts with a specific tag

    • Segment to target all contacts in a segment

    • You can select multiple lists, tags, and segments one after another.

  6. Under Choose Actions, select Delete Contacts

  7. Click Submit

SendX will begin processing the bulk action immediately. You will receive an in-app notification once it is complete.

What Happens After Contacts Are Deleted

  • The contacts are permanently removed from your entire SendX account, not just from the selected list, tag, or segment

  • Your contact count updates immediately and is reflected right away on your account and billing

  • If you were close to a contact limit, the freed-up quota becomes available straight away

  • Any contacts who were active inside a workflow or drip campaign at the time of deletion will be removed from that automation mid-flow

Important Warnings

This action cannot be undone. Deleted contacts cannot be recovered. There is no grace period or undo option. Make sure you have reviewed the contacts you intend to delete before submitting.

  • If you need to retain the contacts but simply want to stop emailing them, consider unsubscribing them or archiving the list instead of deleting

  • Deleted contacts who later opt in again through a form or import will be treated as new contacts

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I recover contacts after they are deleted? No. Deleting contacts through Bulk Action is permanent. There is no way to undo this action or restore deleted contacts.

Will deleting contacts also delete the list or segment they were in? No. The list, tag, or segment remains in your account. Only the contacts inside it are removed.

If a contact is in multiple lists, will they be deleted from all of them? Yes. When a contact is deleted, they are removed entirely from your SendX account, regardless of how many lists, tags, or segments they belonged to.

Will this affect my billing immediately? Yes. Your contact count drops as soon as the bulk action completes, and your billing reflects the updated count right away.

What happens to contacts who are mid-workflow when deleted? They are removed from the workflow immediately. Any scheduled emails or automation steps for those contacts will not be sent.

Is there a limit to how many contacts I can delete at once? No. Bulk Action has no contact limit. You can delete as many contacts as are included in the selected lists, tags, or segments.

Can I select more than one list or segment in a single bulk action? Yes. You can combine multiple lists, tags, and segments as sources within a single bulk action.

Is this feature available on all plans? Yes. Bulk Action is available on all SendX plans with no restrictions.
